Rimini Street CEO: AI Must Be Built on Governance and Digital Trust

The success of artificial intelligence (AI) implementation is not solely determined by technological sophistication, but also by an organisation’s ability to build governance, cybersecurity, and digital trust, according to Rimini Street CEO Seth Ravin. He stated that these three aspects form the foundation for AI to deliver long-term benefits to the business world. Seth explained that AI development has now entered a new phase with the emergence of Agentic AI, technology that no longer merely generates recommendations but can independently execute various tasks as a ‘digital agent’ that makes decisions and completes work. According to him, this shift means organisations must change their approach to cybersecurity. It is no longer sufficient for companies to only protect applications and data; they must also ensure that the AI agents used remain secure, trustworthy, and are not exploited by irresponsible parties. ‘Trust in AI can only be built if organisations are able to ensure that AI systems remain secure, reliable, and protected from various cyber threats,’ Seth told Republika in an Exclusive Group Interview with the Rimini Street CEO. He explained that companies need to implement a more proactive security approach through layered protection for applications, data, and AI agents. With this approach, organisations can respond to cyber threats in minutes without having to wait for software update cycles that often take months. In addition to strengthening governance, Seth also assessed that companies need to start preparing human resources capable of managing AI responsibly. Looking ahead, the demand for talent that understands system integration, data quality, and AI security is expected to increase as the utilisation of this technology expands. Seth also noted that the Indonesian government’s growing attention to AI development and strengthening cyber governance is a positive step in building a healthy digital ecosystem. He stressed that innovation and security cannot be separated; both must progress in tandem so that digital transformation can deliver sustainable benefits to both the business world and society.
