Rieke Urges Police to Uncover the Mastermind Behind Ermanto Usman's Murder: A Heinous Incident in Ramadan
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VI, Rieke Diah Pitaloka, has urged police to uncover the mastermind behind the robbery-murder of Ermanto Usman (65).
‘I appeal for prayers from across Indonesia; hopefully the case can be solved not only to identify the executor, but also the brains behind the very cruel and tragic incident that occurred in Ramadan,’ Rieke told reporters at the LPSK office in East Jakarta on Thursday (5 March 2026).
Rieke emphasised that her side does not wish to pre-empt the investigation being conducted by law enforcement, especially the police.
She said she visited the LPSK today to accompany the victim’s family who have applied for protection.
‘This morning I accompanied them, requesting protection for the victim’s family—two of the children, for whom we sought clinical and psychological assessments from LPSK, particularly the youngest who was at the scene at the time,’ Rieke said.
Rieke added that a total of six family members had sought protection from LPSK, including the wife of the victim.
‘In total, we are seeking protection primarily for the victim’s wife, who remains in a critical condition at hospital, as well as for four of the children and the son-in-law, and for anyone closely connected to the victim,’ she added.
Earlier reports said Ermanto and his wife, Pasmilawati (60), were believed to be victims of a robbery with violence that resulted in their deaths on Monday (2 March 2026).
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Metro Bekasi City Police, Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal, said the preliminary indications point to a robbery, though the motive remains under investigation.
‘The inquiry is still ongoing; we cannot conclude at this time. But according to the victim’s child, a gold bracelet on the mother’s wrist disappeared, and both car keys were missing,’ Andi said at the scene on Monday.
At the time of discovery, Ermanto was on a mattress bleeding heavily, while Pasmilawati lay on the bedroom floor. Initial medical examination indicated both sustained injuries from blunt force trauma to the back of the head.
Presently, the investigation involves personnel from the Pondok Gede Police Sector, the Metro Bekasi City Police, and Jatanras of Polda Metro Jaya to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive in the case.
