Rieke pushes for One Data Indonesia Bill to support asset forfeiture
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Rieke Diah Pitaloka is pushing for the passage of the One Data Indonesia Bill to strengthen the implementation of the Asset Forfeiture Law.
Rieke said in Jakarta on Friday that asset forfeiture related to criminal offences requires accurate data support so that the process of tracing assets and returning them to the state can run optimally.
“Not only the Asset Forfeiture Bill. We are fighting for the immediate passage of the One Data Indonesia Bill and the Labour Protection Bill,” said Rieke.
According to her, the One Data Indonesia Bill is needed to ensure that state policies and budgets are prepared in a planned, measurable, directed and targeted manner.
She said inaccurate data can open loopholes for corruption, so improving data governance needs to go hand in hand with eradicating corruption and asset forfeiture efforts.
“Problematic data certainly opens loopholes for corruption. Eradicating corruption and asset forfeiture without fixing state data only ends in illusion,” she said.
She reminded that the legislative process requires consistency and struggle, referring to the experience of passing the Social Security Administering Body (BPJS) Bill into law.
“Change never comes easily; it is born from the courage to speak out, persistence in fighting for the people’s interests, and solidarity between the public and policy makers,” she said.
Approval was given after eight political party factions submitted written views on the bill.
Chairman of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI Bob Hasan said the One Data Indonesia Bill was drafted to realise integrated, accurate and valid data governance as a basis for development planning.
According to Bob, the regulation must also be able to guarantee justice for the public in the use and management of data.
