Ridwan Kamil Files Petition to Adopt Arkana as a Single Parent

Bandung, VIVA – Former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil attended an adoption petition hearing at the Bandung Religious Court on Wednesday, 8 July 2026. In that hearing, Ridwan Kamil filed a petition for Arkana Aidan Misbach to be formally adopted as his child as a single parent, following his divorce from Atalia Praratya.

The adoption petition had previously been registered with the Bandung Religious Court on 26 June 2026. The hearing proceeded with the examination of the petition filed by Ridwan Kamil.

After the hearing, Ridwan Kamil expressed his gratitude for the smooth progress of the legal process. He expressed hope that the panel of judges would grant his petition so that Arkana Aidan Misbach could formally become his adopted child once the court issued its ruling.

Ridwan Kamil’s lawyer, Wenda Aluwi, explained that initially Ridwan Kamil and his former wife, Atalia Praratya, had planned to adopt Arkana together. However, the administrative process had not been completed when the two decided to divorce.

“Based on the agreement after the divorce, custody of Arkana was transferred to Ridwan Kamil. Therefore, the legal process now being undertaken is adoption by a single parent, and all administrative and legal requirements have been fulfilled, so at this stage we are simply awaiting the ruling from the panel of judges of the Bandung Religious Court,” he said on Wednesday, 8 July 2026.

The panel of judges of the Bandung Religious Court is scheduled to issue a ruling on the petition within approximately one week. If the petition is granted, Ridwan Kamil will legally become the adoptive parent of Arkana Aidan Misbach.
