JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto attended the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines, on Friday (8/5/2026). From footage on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, Prabowo arrived at the summit venue in a white Maung vehicle. After alighting from the vehicle, Prabowo walked along the red carpet to enter the ASEAN Summit hall. He was also greeted by Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The two shook hands and posed for photos together. It is known that Prabowo had arrived in the Philippines since Thursday (7/5/2026). In his speech, Prabowo emphasised that BIMP-EAGA must continue to develop to better meet the tangible needs of communities in the region. “With that spirit, BIMP-EAGA must continue to develop. BIMP-EAGA must be more adaptive, more impactful, and more responsive to our communities’ needs,” Prabowo stated on Thursday. Additionally, Prabowo expressed appreciation to Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for the warm welcome and his leadership in the forum. The Head of State assessed that the Special BIMP-EAGA Summit was held at a very important moment amid rising global challenges.
