President Prabowo Subianto has instructed a reduction in ride-hailing platform fees to a maximum of 8% from the previous approximately 20% to improve drivers’ welfare.

“I have signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 on the Protection of Online Transportation Workers. As I mentioned earlier, they must be provided with work accident guarantees, BPJS Health, and health insurance,” said Prabowo.

Ipung, one of the online motorcycle taxi drivers, said he welcomes President Prabowo’s instruction to reduce the platform fee for ride-hailing to a maximum of 8% and hopes it can be implemented as soon as possible by the platform side.

“Good… previously the deductions were very large, hopefully it will be implemented quickly because until now there has been no information from the platform side,” said Ipung to CNBC Indonesia.

Another ride-hailing driver also stated agreement as long as the fee reduction is not passed on to customers, since the fare displayed on the customer app often differs from what the driver receives.

On the other hand, the CEO of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), Hans Patuwo, said his company always complies with government regulations, including the directives conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto regarding the protection of online transportation workers as stipulated in Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026.
