Ride-hailing Driver Found Dead with Stab Wounds, Motorcycle and Phone Stolen
An online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver named Agus Tedjo was found dead with stab wounds to his neck while resting in the Villa Taman Bandara area, Dadap, Kosambi District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, in the early hours of Sunday (12/3).
The victim was found covered in blood at a spot commonly used by ojol drivers to gather and rest. Although he was initially discovered in a critical condition, his life could not be saved due to the stab wounds he had suffered.
In addition to taking the victim’s life, the perpetrator is also believed to have fled with Agus’s motorcycle and mobile phone before escaping towards the West Jakarta area.
The victim’s friend, Lukman, said Agus was known as a good person who was close to fellow ojol drivers. According to him, the victim had even been asked to become the community leader at the gathering spot, but declined because he considered the basecamp unofficial.
Lukman also revealed that the victim often stayed overnight at the location, although he occasionally lodged at his house. At the time of the incident, Agus was reportedly sleeping on his side.
“The victim was a good person. Friends wanted to make him their leader, but he declined. He often stayed here, sometimes at my house. When it happened, the victim was asleep,” said Lukman on Monday (13/7).
The victim’s body underwent an autopsy before being buried in his hometown in Tigaraksa, Tangerang Regency. Agus is survived by his wife and two young children.
Meanwhile, officers from the Teluknaga Sector Police together with the Tangerang City Metro Police are still hunting the perpetrator. Police are also examining closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage around the crime scene to establish the identity and whereabouts of the suspect.
