JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) Maman Abdurrahman stated that the latest regulation limiting commissions for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) platforms to a maximum of 8 percent will not impact sales of food and beverage UMKM. “No (it won’t affect). I see everything is fine-fine, really. I don’t think there’s anything we need to look at in terms of who gains and who loses,” Maman said after attending the inauguration of the West Kalimantan Family Association board in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (3/5/2026). According to Maman, President Prabowo Subianto’s policy setting a maximum commission limit for platforms is a response to the aspirations of ojol drivers. In the near future, the Ministry of UMKM, together with the Ministry of Transportation, will communicate with the platform parties. “Tomorrow Monday, perhaps Tuesday, we will follow up,” Maman said. “We will speak with the platform parties to follow up on what is indeed the directive from the President,” he added. Previously, President Prabowo Subianto signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transportation Workers. This regulation brings significant changes to the income scheme for ojol driver partners. Thus, drivers are entitled to receive at least 92 percent of total earnings. “Brothers and sisters, we are also regulating, I have also signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transportation Workers,” Prabowo said from the podium at the 2026 May Day celebration speech. Meanwhile, Grab Indonesia and PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) responded to Prabowo’s policy reducing the ojol driver commission cut to platforms to 8 percent from the previous 20 percent. Grab Indonesia Chief Executive Officer Neneng Goenadi said the company respects the guidance conveyed by the President and is committed to supporting the government’s vision in improving public welfare. Nevertheless, Grab is still awaiting the official issuance of the Presidential Regulation to study the policy details further.
