Compensation for rickshaw drivers operating on the Pantura highway will be provided. They are asked not to operate during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return traffic.

As is known, the Governor of West Java through the Department of Transportation (Dishub) instructed the prohibition of rickshaw operations during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return traffic. In response to this instruction, the Head of the Traffic Division of the Cirebon Regency Department of Transportation, Mida Aftiyani, ensured that even though they are prohibited, the rickshaw drivers will not be left without income without a solution.

“There will be compensation for the rickshaw drivers,” said Mida, Thursday (2/26).

As explained by Mida, they are now starting to re-collect data so that the assistance is truly targeted.

“We are currently verifying the data of prospective recipients. We are taking this step to ensure that only active rickshaw drivers who meet the requirements are included in the list of compensation recipients,” said Mida.

For the verification process, it is carried out strictly by involving experts. One of the mandatory requirements that must be met is to attach a photo of the e-ID card and a photo of the personal rickshaw.

“The photo with the rickshaw is to minimize the potential for fraud in the field,” said Mida.

Meanwhile, based on data from the previous year, the number of rickshaw drivers who applied to receive compensation reached 557 people. However, this number has not yet become final data because it is still awaiting verification results from the provincial government.

“The province is still conducting verification. We in the district are only monitoring and evaluating. We are also still waiting for the official provisions from the province,” he said.

This policy is taken as an anticipatory measure to reduce the potential for congestion on busy roads. “The ban is to minimize traffic density. The start and end times are still awaiting regulations from the province,” said Mida.
