Doctor Richard Lee underwent questioning as a suspect in an alleged consumer protection violation case involving beauty products and services on Thursday. He complied with a summons from Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) investigators.

“I respect the outcome of my pre-trial motion. Today, with a cooperative attitude, I have come to fulfil my obligation as a good citizen,” he told reporters on Thursday (19 February 2026).

He said he was prepared to provide statements to investigators regarding the products he sells. He also claimed that all his products comply with proper procedures.

“All the products I sell are legal and registered with BPOM [the National Agency of Drug and Food Control], and are manufactured in accordance with prevailing regulations. I have never sold unlicensed products that could potentially endanger the public,” he explained.

He admitted feeling saddened by the conflict in the case he is currently facing, as it involves two doctors who both sell beauty products.

“Personally, what saddens me is that this conflict involves two doctors, two colleagues, two professionals who both sell skincare products, and it has ended with them reporting each other and both becoming suspects. I am saddened and embarrassed by this,” he said.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya had announced it would summon Dr Richard Lee again in the alleged consumer protection violation case. The examination was scheduled for the following week.

“Polda Metro Jaya investigators have sent a summons for Thursday, 19 February 2026 at 10:00. The summons has been confirmed by the lawyer and has been received. We will wait for next Thursday for the continued examination of suspect DRL,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations Commissioner Budi Hermanto to reporters on Saturday (14 February).

Budi stated that the investigation into this case would be conducted thoroughly. He assured that there would be no intervention that could influence the handling of any case at Polda Metro.

“We wish to convey that this case is being processed proportionally, professionally, and accountably. We will continue to provide updates to relevant parties regarding the handling of suspect DRL’s case as well as other cases handled by Polda Metro Jaya and its subordinate district police units,” Budi explained.
