Richard Lee Replaces Legal Counsel Again: 'Many Individuals Deceived and Cheated Me'

Cosmetic doctor and content creator Richard Lee has revealed the reasons behind his decision to dismiss his previous legal counsel and appoint a new lawyer, Faizal Hafied, for his ongoing trial. Lee stated that he had been deceived or cheated by several lawyers, leading him to revoke their power of attorney. He admitted to being confused about finding a trustworthy lawyer to handle his duties. “Previously at Polda Metro Jaya, I had to replace my lawyer at that time. I was confused about which lawyer was good, because many lawyers or individuals, I would say, deceived or cheated me. So I hadn’t found a good lawyer yet. I used a temporary lawyer first,” Lee explained before his trial at the Tangerang District Court on Thursday (18/6/2026).

While struggling to find a lawyer, Ustaz Khalid Basalamah called him and recommended what he considered the best lawyer. Consequently, Richard followed the guidance and appointed Faizal Hafied as his legal counsel. “Yesterday, Ustaz Khalid Basalamah called me; he gave a recommendation, saying to use this lawyer. He provided a guarantee and a recommendation. I asked him, ‘Ustaz, I don’t really know him, what do you think?’ The Ustaz said, ‘I give my recommendation. He will definitely help’,” Richard recounted. “So I followed my teacher’s direction. I chose him as my lawyer. But perhaps I did not announce it to the public,” he added.

However, Richard did not provide detailed information about the fraud allegedly committed by the individuals. “Perhaps it is not the right time to speak openly with the media; I am more focused on explaining my personal issues first. Later, at the right time, I will probably tell you (the media) a lot. Many individuals are playing games here, many lawyers are trying to cheat. Individuals are trying to take advantage, what is the purpose of all this. It’s difficult to talk about,” Richard Lee clarified. He currently wants to focus on the case he is facing and present the facts he possesses.
