The morning atmosphere in the Subak Mambal Munduk Kedampal rice field area, Mekar Bhuwana Village, Abiansemal District, Badung, was suddenly disrupted on Wednesday (30/09/2026). A rice threshing machine, locally known as a ‘dores’, suddenly burnt to the ground in the middle of the field while in use.

“The incident occurred this morning at around 07:30 WITA in a local resident’s field. There were no casualties,” said the Acting Chief of Abiansemal Police, AKP I Komang Juniawan, when confirmed on Wednesday (30/09/2026).

The incident began when the farm labourer, who was also renting the machine, discovered the threshing machine in a burnt condition at the field location. He then contacted the machine owner, Mulyadi, before the information was passed on to the subak officials and the police.

Identification officers from the Badung Police, who arrived at the scene, immediately conducted a crime scene investigation to collect initial evidence. From preliminary examinations, the flames are strongly suspected to have been triggered by fuel tank materials and piles of straw surrounding the machine.

“All parts of the machine were burnt to ashes,” said Komang.

However, the police have not yet reached a final conclusion regarding whether the primary cause was a spark from the plastic jerrycan or if the fire was intentionally set. Currently, the paddy field area has been inspected, and the case is still being handled by the police.
