JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Perum Bulog is optimistic in claiming it can achieve the target of absorbing 4 million tonnes of rice equivalent in 2026, in line with the strong government rice reserve (CBP) stocks that have surpassed 4.4 million tonnes.

Bulog’s President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani attended the major harvest of the first planting season in Baderan Village, Geneng Subdistrict, Ngawi Regency, East Java.

“Today we are attending the harvest in Ngawi to ensure that the achievement of the 4 million tonne target ahead is truly realised in accordance with the directives of the President,” Rizal stated in an official remark on Sunday (5/4/2026).

According to him, the current rice stock achievement of around 4.4 million tonnes serves as a strong foundation for the government in realising national food self-sufficiency.

In addition to maintaining supply, Rizal said he is also ensuring that paddy prices at the farmer level remain in line with the Government Purchase Price (HPP). In fact, based on dialogues with farmers in Ngawi, the prices received are said to be above the HPP.

This condition is deemed important for safeguarding farmers’ welfare while maintaining the farmers’ exchange rate amid the dynamics of food prices.

This major harvest is part of Bulog’s strategy to strengthen the absorption of domestic harvest yields, while also maintaining the stability of national rice supply and prices.

With support from increasing production in the early 2026 planting season, Bulog is confident that the 4 million tonne absorption target can be achieved, thereby strengthening the institution’s role in safeguarding national food security.
