Rice Prices in Badung Rise to Rp 13,700 per Kilogram
Unmilled rice prices at milling levels in Badung Regency, Bali, began to creep up by Rp 100 per kilogram on Thursday (16/4/2026). This increase is triggered by high market demand and competition among buyers amid the good quality of unmilled rice.
“Per kilogram (of unmilled rice) from Rp 7,200, now becoming Rp 7,300 due to competition factors and high demand. The unmilled rice is good because the weather is also good,” said the owner of a rice mill in Lukluk Ward, Nyoman Susila.
The rise in raw material prices directly impacts the selling price of rice in the market, which now reaches Rp 13,700 per kilogram. Previously, rice prices were recorded at Rp 13,600 per kilogram, experiencing a slight increase of Rp 100 following the trend of unmilled rice prices.
“Rice prices will certainly continue to rise; now it’s already Rp 13,700 per kilogram from the previous Rp 13,600. My hope is that the price can stabilise and security also stabilises so that things are good going forward,” Susila continued.
Rice production at Susila’s mill can produce around 2 to 3 tons of rice every day. On a monthly scale, this place absorbs an average of 60 to 70 tons of unmilled rice to be processed into 45 to 50 tons of rice.
“If the average unmilled rice entering per month is 60 to 70 tons, then the yield becomes around 45 or 50 tons of rice. This rice we sell retail here to meet local needs,” Susila explained regarding the distribution flow.
The supply of unmilled rice processed at this mill is dominated by local Badung areas such as Abianbase, Kapal, Sempidi, and Darmasaba. Besides local supplies, Susila also brings in raw materials from outside areas like Lombok and Tabanan to maintain stock stability.
“The largest absorption of unmilled rice is from Badung areas like Abianbase, Kapal, Sempidi, and Darmasaba, but there are also shipments from Lombok. Now, rice milling businesses are decreasing; in Badung alone, there used to be 40 places, but now only about 10 remain because there are no successors,” Susila concluded.
