Rice Aid to be Distributed on 17 August, Each Recipient Gets 30 Kg
The government will begin distributing the second phase of rice food aid on 17 August 2026. The distribution will be carried out simultaneously for a three-month allocation covering July, August, and September to 33,244,408 recipients across Indonesia.
The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has assigned the State Logistics Agency (Perum Bulog) to distribute the Government Food Reserves (CPP) based on an assignment letter dated 30 July 2026. Bapanas Head, who is also the Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, stated that each recipient will receive 10 kg of rice per month, totalling 30 kg for the three-month allocation.
Bapanas Director of Food Distribution and Reserves, Rachmi Widiriani, revealed that the second phase of rice food aid distribution will be carried out simultaneously to coincide with the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. She noted that the distribution in August, alongside the 17 August celebrations, is a very good and appropriate moment for the community, particularly those in deciles 1 to 4, to feel the government’s presence through food aid.
Bapanas is also encouraging the use of the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDKMP) as distribution points to optimise government infrastructure. The database for the programme uses the latest updated version of the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN), following cooperation between Bapanas, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and Statistics Indonesia (BPS).
The agency has urged regional governments to coordinate immediately with local Bulog offices to prepare for the distribution, prioritising quality checks on the rice. Bulog’s regional operations in Papua have been specifically asked to prioritise moving stock to remote areas. The first phase of the programme, covering February and March 2026, successfully reached 33.14 million Beneficiary Families (KPM). The total budget for the programme is IDR 17.52 trillion, with the 2026 scheme set to run for at least five months, an increase from the four-month allocation in 2025.
