Ribka Haluk Urges PIKI to Build Ecosystem and Leave a Lasting Legacy for the Nation
The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Vice Chairperson of the Indonesian Christian Intellectual Association (PIKI), Ribka Haluk, has emphasised that PIKI must be capable of influencing public policy and leaving a sustainable legacy for the nation. This assertion was made by Ribka during the PIKI Central Executive Board (DPP) meeting at the PIKI office in Jakarta on Saturday (6/6). The meeting was directly led by the General Chairperson of PIKI, Maruarar Sirait.
“We want PIKI to be able to enter this arena and influence policy. There is a legacy we must leave for the next five years and beyond. Therefore, it should not just be about activities and actions that conclude after five years… That is why I agree that we must build this ecosystem,” Ribly stated in a written statement on Sunday (7/6/2026).
Ribka also expressed her appreciation to Maruarar for the trust placed in her to be involved in the PIKI management. She described this trust as a calling to serve amidst her responsibilities in overseeing hundreds of regions in Indonesia as the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs. Ribka also praised the leadership of Maruarar, affectionately known as Ara, noting that despite his ministerial role, he continues to dedicate time to leading and building the organisation.
Furthermore, Ribka emphasised that PIKI must not merely be an organisation that conducts ceremonial activities. PIKI must be able to build an ecosystem that produces ideas, cadres, and policies that have a real impact on society. “Being part of this organisation means carrying a great responsibility. I want PIKI to become an organisation that influences policy,” she said.
Ribka identified poverty as one of the primary issues that must be a focus for PIKI. Consequently, the intellectuals, academics, professionals, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders within the organisation need to work together to produce concepts and policy recommendations to address various national challenges.
Meanwhile, Ara expressed his appreciation for Ribka’s commitment and performance, both in her governmental duties and her contributions to PIKI. Ara specifically noted Ribka as an individual who works exceptionally well and understands the needs of various regions, particularly in Eastern Indonesia. Ara also requested Ribka’s assistance in identifying potential figures in Papua, NTT, Maluku, and North Maluku who possess the integrity and commitment to develop PIKI in those regions. He noted that the organisation’s success is determined by the precision in selecting human resources to execute its vision and mission.
The PIKI Central Executive Board meeting served as a momentum for consolidation to strengthen the role of Indonesian Christian intellectuals in generating strategic thinking, influencing public policy, and providing real contributions to national development.
