Riau Police's JALUR Programme Reaches Remote Pelalawan Villages, Distributes Social Assistance to Orphans

Collaborating with Pelalawan Regency’s Baznas, the Pelalawan District Police’s Water Police Unit (Satpolairud) visited four villages in Teluk Meranti Subdistrict, including Labuhan Bilik, Gambut Mutiara, Segamai, Pulau Muda, Teluk Binjai, Kuala Panduk, Petodaan, and Pangkalan Terap. The event, led by the Satpolairud Chief and Teluk Meranti Police Chief Ipda Vicky Rizky, took place on Sunday, 24 May 2026.

During the activity, 40 food parcels were distributed to elderly residents, while 114 school supply packages were provided to orphans, reflecting concern for education and welfare of coastal children.

Free health check-ups were conducted for the elderly by Satpolairud personnel alongside local midwives to ensure their health and provide health education.

Riau Police Chief AKBP John Louis Letedara stated that the initiative demonstrates Polri’s commitment to community welfare, particularly in coastal areas. ‘The JALUR Programme aims to strengthen police-public relations and deliver direct assistance to those requiring social aid or healthcare,’ he said.

Through collaboration with Baznas Pelalawan, Satpolairud is committed to sustaining community social activities. With a spirit of service and care, the JALUR Programme is intended to bridge the state’s presence in Pelalawan’s coastal communities.

The social initiative received warm reception from locals, who expressed gratitude for regular visits to remote and inaccessible areas. The presence of Satpolairud and Baznas personnel was seen as providing tangible benefits to those in need.
