Riau Police Unveil New Strategy to Bolster Food Security Beyond Security Duties
The Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau) continues to develop its food security programme by working across several sectors, from expanding land and increasing corn production to fostering innovation at both the regional police and district levels.
These efforts are reflected in Polda Riau’s achievements in the 2026 National Police Food Security Programme assessment. Of the six categories contested, the Riau Police force recorded the best results in several areas.
The awards were presented directly by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan during the Awarding Day for Police Innovation Appreciation held at the Grand Ballroom of The Tribrata.
Riau Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Akmadi, said the achievement was the result of joint efforts by the police force and various parties in implementing the food security programme.
“This achievement is an accumulation of accomplishments across various categories. It is evidence of the collective work of the entire force in supporting and implementing the food security programme,” Akmadi said, as quoted on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.
In the assessment, Polda Riau recorded results in the food production and management sector. These included second place in the category of Land Expansion and Corn Production, and second place in the Bulog Corn Absorption category.
The programme was also supported by strengthened public communications. Polda Riau won first place in the Regional Police Media Management category, while Indragiri Hulu Police secured third place in the District Police Media Management category.
In the field of innovation, Polda Riau won second place in the Regional Police Innovation category. Kuantan Singingi Police even won first place in the District Police Innovation category.
“These six achievements were then accumulated in the final assessment and placed Polda Riau as the highest scorer as well as the Overall Champion of Cluster 3,” Akmadi said.
The food security programme is carried out jointly with local governments, Bulog, farmer groups, and a number of other stakeholders.
According to Akmadi, the police’s involvement in the programme does not stop at administrative achievements. The Riau Police force is encouraged to ensure that the programmes implemented provide direct benefits to the community.
“The spirit does not stop at the award, but rather how the National Police can take part in strengthening food security and providing benefits to the community,” Akmadi said.
