Riau Police Uncover Three Major Crimes Simultaneously, Violent Robbery and Motorcycle Theft Syndicate Dismantled
The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Riau Regional Police has uncovered three major criminal cases almost simultaneously. The operations, conducted on 10-11 June 2026, exposed a brutal robbery, a cross-regional motorcycle theft syndicate, and a car theft network. Police secured several suspects and seized over a dozen stolen vehicles that had been causing unrest in Pekanbaru City and Kampar Regency.
Riau Police Director of General Criminal Investigation, Senior Commissioner Hasyim Risahondua, stated that the success was the result of intensive investigations carried out by the Jatanras Resmob Team based on public reports and case developments. “In one series of operations, the team managed to uncover three prominent cases at once. From a violent robbery that left the victim with machete wounds, to a cross-regional motorcycle theft network, and a car theft case. This demonstrates our commitment to taking firm action against all forms of crime that disturb the community,” he said on Friday, 12 June 2026.
The first case revealed was a violent theft, or robbery, that occurred on Jalan Datuk Wan Abdul Jamal, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City, on 3 June 2026. Police arrested three suspects with the initials MM alias UD, AH, and RR alias Black. They are suspected of being involved in the robbery of a motorcyclist who was passing through the area in the early hours of the morning. According to the investigation, the suspects intercepted the victim while he was riding his motorcycle. When the victim attempted to retain his vehicle, one of the suspects attacked him with a machete, causing lacerations to his arm and thigh. The perpetrators then fled with the motorcycle and the victim’s valuables.
In addition to the robbery case, the Jatanras Resmob Team also dismantled a motor vehicle theft syndicate believed to have been operating across several areas in Kampar Regency and Pekanbaru City. Four individuals were arrested in this operation, identified by the initials MS, SH, P, and TS.
