Riau Police Receive Nugraha Sakanti Honour, Chief Says Award Belongs to All Personnel

The Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau) was one of 12 National Police (Polri) units to receive the Nugraha Sakanti honour from President Prabowo Subianto at the peak of the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration held at the Brimob Satlat Field in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (1/7/2026). The award was presented directly by President Prabowo as a form of state appreciation for Polri units deemed meritorious, accomplished, and providing tangible benefits for the interests of the nation and state. The conferment of the Nugraha Sakanti was based on Presidential Decree Number 37/TK/2026, Presidential Decree Number 38/TK/2026, and Presidential Decree Number 55/Polri/2026, read out by the Presidential Military Secretary, Major General Wahyu Yudhayana. Besides the Riau Police, the same honour was also awarded to the National Police Legal Division, the National Police Finance Centre, Polda Metro Jaya, Polda Banten, Polda Central Java, Polda East Java, Polda West Java, Polda North Sumatra, Polda Lampung, Polda Central Kalimantan, and Polda West Nusa Tenggara. Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan stated that the award was an honour and a mandate dedicated to all Polda Riau personnel and the people of Riau who have been strategic partners in maintaining security, order, and supporting various development programmes. “Alhamdulillah, this Nugraha Sakanti award is an honour for the entire extended family of Polda Riau. This award does not belong to the Police Chief, but is the fruit of the hard work, dedication, and service of all personnel as well as the support of the community who continue to synergise with us in maintaining security and order in Riau Province,” said Herry. In his address at the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration, President Prabowo emphasised that Indonesia is undergoing a major transformation across various sectors. According to the President, there can be no prosperity without stability, no development without security, and no strong nation without a trusted state apparatus. President Prabowo also expressed appreciation to the National Police for their contributions in supporting various national strategic programmes, ranging from food security, the Free Nutritious Meal Programme, infrastructure development for communities, to disaster management. Responding to the President’s message, Herry asserted that the award received by Polda Riau must be interpreted as an encouragement to continuously improve the quality of service, not as an end goal. “The President’s directive serves as a reminder for us that public trust is the highest honour that must be continuously maintained. Therefore, we use this award as motivation to continue presenting a professional, humane, and integrity-driven police force that is always present to provide solutions for the community,” said the 1996 Police Academy graduate. According to him, various innovations and programmes that have been implemented by Polda Riau will continue to be strengthened as part of the implementation of the President’s policies and the transformation of the National Police to be more adaptive to the needs of the community. Herry affirmed that his party will continue to improve the quality of public services, strengthen fair law enforcement, support the national food security programme, expand collaboration with all elements of society, and implement Green Policing as an effort to maintain security in harmony with environmental sustainability. “That is how we translate the President’s mandate in our daily service,” he said. He added that the Nugraha Sakanti award serves as a motivation for all ranks of Polda Riau to continue working better, maintaining public trust, and providing greater benefits to the community. “Hopefully, this award becomes new energy for all Polda Riau personnel to continue working sincerely, humbly, and with full integrity. We are committed to maintaining public trust and providing the best service to realise security as the foundation for an advanced, just, and prosperous Indonesia,” he concluded.
