Riau Police Patch Up Hopes on the Decrepit Bridge in Teluk Meranti, Pelalawan
The Riau Regional Police have resumed construction on the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge Phase II. This time, the renovation of the dilapidated wooden bridge in Pangkalan Terap Village, Teluk Meranti District, Pelalawan Regency, has officially begun.
The Merah Putih Presisi Bridge Phase II serves as a vital access route connecting Pangkalan Terap Village with Kuala Panduk Village in Teluk Meranti District. Its presence is expected to facilitate smoother mobility for residents, support the local economy, and enhance inter-regional connectivity.
The bridge was previously made of wood. Its current condition is rotten and full of holes, causing anxiety among villagers every time they traverse it.
The construction of this bridge also represents a tangible manifestation of the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to supporting infrastructure development that directly impacts community welfare, particularly in the Teluk Meranti District area.
Additionally, the bridge construction process faces its own challenges, particularly in material distribution. Transported from the Kuala Panduk Village dock to the Pangkalan Terap Village dock, which takes about 45 minutes, to reach the site located in a watery area, the transportation of iron materials is carried out using water transport via the Kampar River route. This serves as an effective solution to ensure that all construction needs arrive at the location smoothly.
The activity began with a joint prayer at the bridge construction site, specifically in RT 06/RW 03, Dusun III, Pangkalan Terap Village. This joint prayer symbolises the start of the much-anticipated continuation phase of the bridge construction by the local community.
Attending the event were Teluk Meranti Police Chief Ipda Vicki Rizky, SH, Teluk Meranti Sub-District Head Raja Eka Putra, Acting Head of Pangkalan Terap Village Wahyu Indah Astuti, Head of Dusun III Afrido, community figure Mr Ruslan, as well as residents of Pangkalan Terap Village and personnel from Teluk Meranti Police Sector.
Teluk Meranti Police Chief Ipda Vicki Rizky stated that this joint prayer activity is a form of hope that the construction process will run smoothly, safely, and provide significant benefits to the community.
“With this joint prayer, we hope that the construction of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge Phase II can proceed without obstacles and become a facility that brings progress to the community,” said Ipda Vicki on Monday (20/4/2026).
The event proceeded solemnly and smoothly, receiving enthusiasm from the community who hope the bridge will be completed soon and ready for use.
