Riau Police Hold Grand Parade for Nugraha Sakanti Award from President
The Nugraha Sakanti honour, awarded by President Prabowo Subianto on the 80th Bhayangkara Day, has become a source of pride for the Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau). The Nugraha Sakanti was transported from Jakarta to the Riau Police Headquarters in a parade alongside the Polda Riau’s ‘Tuah Sakti Hamba Negeri’ standard. The grand parade was centred in the Tugu Keris Roundabout area on Jalan Pangeran Pattimura, Pekanbaru, on Thursday morning (2/7/2026). The event was led directly by the Riau Police Chief, Inspector General Herry Heryawan, as an expression of gratitude and respect for the highest honour bestowed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia. The Nugraha Sakanti is a five-star honour specifically awarded by the Indonesian President to units within the National Police deemed to have rendered extraordinary service and made significant contributions to the nation, state, and humanity. The sacred moment was tightly guarded by all Polda Riau personnel. Accompanying the Riau Police Chief were the Regional Supervisory Inspectorate Chief, the Operations Bureau Chief, and the Human Resources Bureau Chief, along with various technical directors and middle-ranking officers. The procession of the Nugraha Sakanti and the Polda Riau standard was held so that the people of Riau could share in the pride. This award serves as valid proof of Polda Riau’s success in carrying out security functions, law enforcement, and social community innovations such as the Green Policing programme and infrastructure development in isolated areas. ‘This parade is a symbol of shared dedication. The Nugraha Sakanti award does not belong only to police personnel, but to all the people of Riau who have continuously synergised to maintain security and order with the National Police,’ said the Riau Police Chief. Throughout the parade, traffic flow and the enthusiasm of the watching public proceeded in a very orderly manner. The entire series of activities for the Polda Riau standard procession was reported to have taken place in a safe, smooth, and conducive situation. The awarding of the Nugraha Sakanti was based on Presidential Decrees Number 37/TK/2026, 38/TK/2026, and 55/Polri of 2026, read out by the Presidential Military Secretary. The honour was handed over directly by the President as a form of state appreciation to National Police work units deemed meritorious, accomplished, and providing tangible benefits for the interests of the nation and state. Besides Polda Riau, the same award was also given to the National Police Legal Division, the National Police Finance Centre, and several other regional police forces. The Nugraha Sakanti award was presented directly by President Prabowo Subianto at the peak of the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration held at the Brimob Training Centre in Cikeas, Bogor, on Wednesday, 1 July 2026.
