Riau Police Distribute Eid al-Adha Sacrificial Cattle from National Police Chief and Riau Regional Police Chief to UAS's Nurul Azhar Islamic Boarding School
Riau Police distributed sacrificial cattle donated by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Riau Regional Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan to Nurul Azhar Islamic Boarding School, owned by Ustaz Andul Somad (UAS). The cattle were slaughtered at the school on Teuku Maharatu Street in Pekanbaru this morning.
Riau Police’s Inspector of General Supervision, Senior Commissioner Prabowo Santoso, stated that the kurban activity is a form of social concern by the police force and an effort to strengthen community ties during Eid al-Adha.
“The total number of sacrificial animals distributed by Riau Police this year reached 195. On the third day of Eid al-Adha, approximately 50 cattle were slaughtered, including three donated by the National Police Chief and one by the Riau Regional Police Chief at Nurul Azhar Islamic Boarding School,” Prabowo said in a statement on Saturday, 30 May 2026.
He expressed hope that all distributed sacrificial cattle would provide tangible benefits to recipients.
“We hope that our efforts are well-received and reach the intended beneficiaries, bringing blessings to all,” he added.
Three cattle donated by the National Police Chief and one by the Riau Regional Police Chief were slaughtered within the boarding school premises for distribution to those in need, particularly residents in Pekanbaru’s outskirts. The slaughter was witnessed by Senior Commissioner Prabowo Santoso along with several senior police officials.
Nurul Azhar Islamic Boarding School’s leader, Muhammad Hanapi, expressed appreciation for the attention given by the National Police Chief, Riau Regional Police Chief, and police personnel. He stated that the assistance is significant as the sacrificial meat will be distributed to underprivileged communities in Pekanbaru’s outskirts, several boarding schools, and social institutions.
“This year, we received sacrificial donations from the National Police Chief, Riau Regional Police Chief, and Siak Police Chief. Alhamdulillah, all have been slaughtered and are now being distributed to those in need,” Hanapi said.
He explained that the distribution focuses on underprivileged residents, santri, and boarding schools requiring assistance. Hanapi hopes the social programme will continue in future years.
“Last year it began, and this year it continues. We hope the number of sacrificial animals increases in the future so that the benefits to the community grow larger,” he added.
