Marking the occasion of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, which coincides with World Forestry Day, Riau Police distributed ‘parcels’ consisting of 1,000 tree seedlings to all members and the community. This initiative serves as a demonstration of Riau Police’s commitment to preserving the natural environment and its ecosystems.

Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan stated that the distribution of these trees follows directives from the Cabinet Secretary and a telegram from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, advising against lavish open house events. Instead, Riau Police opted for an alternative approach to foster community ties by sharing 1,000 trees.

“We are not holding halal bihalal or open house events as a gesture of solidarity with fellow citizens who may not be able to celebrate Victory Day properly due to recent natural disasters,” said Inspector General Herry on Saturday (21/3/2026).

On this Eid al-Fitr, aligning with World Forestry Day, Riau Police provided something valuable not only to the community but also to the environment that has bestowed its goodness. Tree planting charity represents a strong commitment from Riau Police in efforts to protect and maintain the sustainability of the natural world to keep it green.

“The social activity we are filling is giving ecological alms or tree charity,” he said.

This two-star general views tree planting as essential for safeguarding the environment’s continuity in the future. In addition to conducting education and outreach, Riau Police and its ranks are also rehabilitating and restoring forests and their ecosystems.

“The hope is that from this single tree, it will yield goodness, not only to fellow humans but also to the surrounding environment and nature,” he added.

The activity was carried out simultaneously across 12 police resorts under Riau Police. After performing Eid prayers with the community, all police resorts distributed tree seedlings to the public.

One example was at Indragiri Hulu Police Resort (Inhu). In an atmosphere filled with togetherness and blessings on Eid al-Fitr, Resort Police Chief AKBP Eka Ariandy Putra and his team distributed tree seedlings to the community.

“Eid al-Fitr is the perfect time to share and strengthen community bonds. Coinciding with World Tree Day, we want to invite the public not only to celebrate the day of victory but also to plant goodness for the environment by planting trees,” said AKBP Eka.

Similar activities were conducted by Bengkalis Police Resort. Bengkalis Resort Police Chief AKBP Fahrian Saleh Siregar and his team distributed tree seedlings to the community on the first day of Eid al-Fitr.

Likewise, Siak Police Resort distributed thousands of trees to the public after Eid prayers. Meanwhile, Siak Resort Police Chief AKBP Sepuh Ade Irsyam Siregar handed out 200 trees to Eid prayer congregants at Siak Police Resort headquarters.

The first day of Eid al-Fitr in Pelalawan Regency also proceeded safely and conducively. Pelalawan Resort Police Chief AKBP John Louis Letedara handed over tree seedlings to the community.

Indragiri Hulu Police Resort (Inhu) also distributed tree seedlings to the public after Eid prayers. Inhu Resort Police Chief AKBP Farouk Oktora said this activity follows the directives of Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan to collectively preserve the environment while raising awareness of the importance of forests for life.

Meanwhile, Eid prayers at Dumai Police Resort proceeded safely and conducively, concluding with the distribution of holiday plant seedlings or ‘THR’.

“Besides focusing on security aspects, this year we are also implementing the Green THR or Ecological THR programme by distributing tree seedlings to congregants as a manifestation of the Indonesian National Police’s concern for environmental sustainability and to encourage the public to actively re-green our region,” said Dumai Resort Police Chief AKBP Angga F Herlambang.
