Riau Police Deploy Traffic-Clearing Teams During Takbiran Night

Riau Police’s Traffic Management Directorate has deployed specialised units to manage traffic congestion during Takbiran night. Traffic-clearing teams will be stationed at multiple accident-prone locations.

“We will deploy these traffic-clearing units on Takbiran night, given the potential for crowds in Pekanbaru City,” said Kombes Jeki Rahmat Mustika, Head of Riau Police’s Traffic Management Directorate, to reporters on Friday (13 March 2026).

Kombes Jeki stated that the traffic-clearing teams would operate mobile units to congestion-prone locations. “We will use motorised vehicles, both trail bikes and motorcycles,” he said.

Meanwhile, Riau Police’s Traffic Directorate will also impose restrictions on three-axle vehicles during the Eid exodus and return periods. Police will conduct enforcement actions if three-axle vehicles are found travelling within Pekanbaru City.

“The restrictions will begin during the Operasi Ketupat enforcement period, with no vehicles allowed to enter the city. If any do enter the city, we will issue manual citations,” he stressed.

3,815 Personnel Deployed

Earlier, Riau Police Chief Irjen Pol Herry Heryawan and Commander of Tuanku Tambusai XIX Regional Command Mayjen TNI Agus Hadi Waluyo led a command assembly for the Operasi Ketupat Lancang Kuning 2026 at the Governor’s Office in Pekanbaru City on Thursday (12 March).

Riau Police deployed thousands of combined military and police personnel alongside other stakeholders to secure Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebrations.

“For the security of Operasi Ketupat Lancang Kuning 2026, a total of 3,815 combined personnel have been deployed,” said Irjen Pol Herry Heryawan on Thursday (12 March).

The Police Chief emphasised that the operation’s primary focus is delivering excellent service so that the public can celebrate Eid in safety, comfort and smoothly.

“This operation is conducted to provide service to the public so they can travel home and observe Eid celebrations properly, safely and smoothly,” he added.
