Riau Police Coordinate with Indonesian Embassy over Indonesian Citizen in Critical Condition at Cambodian Hospital
The Regional Police of Riau has received information regarding a woman from Siak, Susi Yanti Br Sinaga (23), who is in a critical condition at Khmer-Soviet-Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh. The Riau Police has coordinated with the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Cambodia to monitor the victim’s condition.
“Yes, we from the Riau Police have coordinated with the KBRI in Cambodia,” said the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Riau Police, Kombes Hasyim Risahondua, in a statement to reporters, on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.
According to Hasyim, the KBRI in Phnom Penh has also conducted a search for the victim. The victim is currently confirmed to still be at Khmer-Soviet-Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh.
“The KBRI has carried out searches for the victim and it is true that she is at a hospital in Phnom Penh and her condition is critical,” he added.
Hasyim said that as a result of communication with the KBRI, the family were asked to continue coordinating with an Indonesian citizen with initials BS who accompanies her at the hospital. Information obtained by the Riau Police from the KBRI indicates the victim is in hospital due to illness she is suffering from.
“The information is that she has autoimmune disease and pneumonia. There is no indication of violence,” he said.
Kombes Hasyim said that currently the force continues to maintain intensive communication with the KBRI. On the other hand, the family are asked to continue communicating with the KBRI hotline and Bram who accompanies the victim at the hospital.
“The KBRI hopes that the victim will continue to communicate, including with BS,” he said.
The Regent Afni Zulkifli herself admitted she had communicated with the Riau Police Chief, Irjen Pol Herry Heryawan, regarding Susi’s condition in Cambodia. Afni said the Police Chief has received the information and they will meet the victim’s family in Lubuk Dalam.
“I immediately informed the Police Chief. Alhamdulillah it was followed up; we also asked a representative to meet the family in Lubuk Dalam,” Afni said, quoted by detikSumut.
In the initial report, Afni was told that the family would fly to Cambodia to pick up Susi. However, she advised coordinating earlier with related agencies.
