The Riau Regional Police’s commitment to supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s commander’s wish to guarantee safety and school attendance in remote areas is showing tangible results. To date, the Riau Police’s Emergency Infrastructure Construction Task Force has reported that 14 bridges, along with educational facilities and clean water infrastructure, have been fully completed.

This achievement is part of a large-scale humanitarian operation involving 250 joint personnel from the Mobile Brigade Unit (Satbrimob), Water and Air Police Directorate (Ditpolairud), Samapta Directorate (Ditsamapta), and district police commands, carried out under the spirit of ‘Protecting Honour, Safeguarding Dignity’.

Riau Police Mobile Brigade Commander Police Commissioner I Ketut Gede Adi Wibawa emphasised that the project is not merely physical construction but an effort to achieve equitable accessibility for rural communities. In addition to bridge infrastructure, the Riau Police have also completed school renovations, including in Kuala Indragiri, Indragiri Hilir Regency, complete with the provision of clean water sources through borehole wells.

“Our primary target is to ensure that no schoolchild has to risk their life crossing rivers on fragile infrastructure. Now, these ‘Merah Putih’ bridges are ready to ease their path towards the future,” said Commissioner Ketut in a statement on Wednesday (18 February 2026).

To date, the Riau Police have completed bridges at 14 locations out of a total target of 26. These include a 27.5-metre bridge in Gobah Village, Kampar Regency; a 34-metre suspension bridge in Tanjung Betung Hamlet, Rokan Hulu Regency; and a bridge at MTsN Jamaatul Darussalam Sinaboi in Rokan Hilir Regency.

Construction of a 30-metre bridge at Gang Danau Toba in Dumai City has also been fully completed. Additionally, bridges in Koto Gasib and Kampung Rawang Air Putih in Kuantan Singingi Regency, as well as a bridge in the Meranti Islands and two further bridges in Indragiri Hilir and Indragiri Hulu regencies, have all been completed.

Beyond the 14 completed locations, the Task Force is pressing ahead with 13 remaining sites currently at critical stages, including: the Sangau Village bridge in Kuantan Singingi at 99 per cent (plaque installation phase); the Lubuk Agung bridge in Kampar at 98 per cent (underpinning concrete pouring phase); the Bukit Batu Village bridge in Bengkalis at 97 per cent (railing installation); and the Sri Meranti bridge in Pekanbaru at 95 per cent.

Despite facing challenges from rainy weather and breakdowns of technical equipment such as concrete mixers at several sites, field personnel continue to work six to twelve hours daily to ensure the remaining construction is completed on schedule.

The presence of this new infrastructure is expected to stimulate the rural economy and provide a sense of security for travellers across the entire Riau Police jurisdiction.
