The Riau Regional Police have completed the construction and renovation of 110 ‘Merah Putih Presisi’ bridges spread across all regencies and cities in Riau Province. The infrastructure was built to open access for communities to schools, health facilities, places of worship, and economic centres that were previously difficult to reach. The programme is a follow-up to directives from President Prabowo Subianto and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo for the police to contribute to providing infrastructure needed by the public, particularly in rural areas. Commander of the Riau Police Mobile Brigade, Commissioner I Ketut Gede Adi Wibawa, stated that as of the end of June 2026, all construction targets had been successfully completed. ‘Alhamdulillah, we have completed all construction targets, so a total of 110 Merah Putih Presisi bridges have now been finished across all regencies and cities in Riau Province,’ he said on Sunday. He explained that the construction was carried out in two phases. A total of 27 bridges in the first phase were inaugurated directly by the National Police Chief on 17 March 2026 in Kampar Regency. The second phase successfully completed the construction and renovation of 83 additional bridges. According to Ketut, the bridge construction is a direct implementation of the President’s directive to provide solutions for public access issues, from education to improving welfare. The project involved joint personnel from the Riau Police, including the Mobile Brigade, Samapta Directorate, Water and Air Police Directorate, and resort police ranks. They were deployed to various areas with diverse geographical conditions, ranging from coastal areas, islands, and riverbanks to inland regions. ‘These bridges open safer access for children to go to school, make it easier for the public to reach health services, facilitate the distribution of agricultural and plantation products, and drive the village economy. This is the true meaning of the Police’s service to the community,’ he said. Meanwhile, Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan stated that the completion of the 110 bridges is one of the Riau Police’s offerings to the community ahead of the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration. According to him, the construction is not merely an infrastructure project, but also a symbol of collaboration between the Police, local government, the business sector, and the community.
