Riau Police Chief Opens NCO Education at SPN, Emphasises Service and Integrity

The 2026 Police Non-Commissioned Officer (Bintara) Training Programme for the Riau Regional Police was officially opened by the Riau Police Chief, Inspector General Herry Heryawan. The ceremony took place at the Riau Police State Police School (SPN) in Kampar on Monday (20/7/2026). Also in attendance were Riau Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Hengki Haryadi, Head of the Riau Police SPN Senior Commissioner Indra Duaman, several high-ranking officials of the Riau Police, and the Chief of Staff of the XIX/Tuanku Tambusai Military Command. This NCO training programme, specifically focused on service at the Integrated Police Service Centre (SPKT), is being held simultaneously at 31 SPNs across Indonesia. There are a total of 4,799 cadets nationwide, comprising 709 female officers and 4,090 male officers. “Specifically at the Riau Police SPN, there are 119 personnel recruited from the 2026 fiscal year,” said Inspector General Herry Heryawan. In his address, the Riau Police Chief expressed his pride and joy in welcoming the new students. Over the next five months, the participants will be rigorously trained at the Riau Police SPN to build their physical, mental, and intellectual readiness. The Police Chief also stressed the importance of building a shared commitment between the cadets and the teaching staff, including lecturers, teachers, trainers, and instructors. He also conveyed his appreciation to the educational institution’s staff tasked with shaping the mentality of these prospective NCOs. “Thank you to the Head of SPN. Hopefully, during these five months of training, we can shape the character of Polri’s Bhayangkara officers, especially for the Riau Police, to be good, humane, professional, and most importantly, to have integrity,” said Inspector General Herry. He also advised the prospective NCOs to always maintain their mindset and speech when on duty in the future. “Always think rationally and speak well with a good heart. God willing, when they become Bhayangkara officers, they will be able to work well and become role models for their families and the community,” he added. At the end of his briefing, Inspector General Herry Heryawan left a closing message as a guide for the training period: establish good communication, strengthen mental fortitude, always pray, collaborate with colleagues, and always comply with the rules in force at the SPN.
