Riau Police Chief: Nugraha Sakanti Award from President a Special Gift for Bhayangkara Day

The entire Riau Regional Police force welcomed the return of the ‘Tuah Sakti Hamba Negeri’ Pataka and the Nugraha Sakanti award with a special ceremony at the Riau Police Headquarters. Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan stated that the Nugraha Sakanti, conferred by President Prabowo Subianto, was a special gift for the 80th Bhayangkara Day. Inspector General Herry Heryawan said that the Riau Police are proud because this honour arrived at a very meaningful time, coinciding with the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration in 2026. He noted that eight decades of the National Police’s service to the motherland and its long dedication to the community have borne sweet fruit. “This is a priceless gift, as well as a mandate that we must carry with full sincerity, because great honour always comes with even greater responsibility,” said Inspector General Herry Heryawan during the welcoming ceremony for the Riau Police Pataka and Nugraha Sakanti in Pekanbaru on Thursday. The Riau Police held a parade to welcome the return of the Pataka and the Nugraha Sakanti. This time, the Pataka returned to the Riau Police not as an ordinary standard, but accompanied by the Nugraha Sakanti honour from the President of the Republic of Indonesia. In his speech, the 1996 Police Academy graduate said that the Pataka has long been a silent witness to the service and dedication of all Riau Police personnel. “There is a feeling that is difficult for me to describe in words when I see our Pataka standing tall this morning. This Pataka has long been a silent witness to the sweat, prayers, sacrifices, and dedication of every Bhayangkara member across Riau Province,” he added. “From Pekanbaru to the coast, from the cities to the remote areas, today that witness returns carrying a new story, that sincere service, no matter how small, never escapes the sight of Allah SWT and ultimately never escapes the recognition of the nation and state,” he continued. The Nugraha Sakanti is the highest honour awarded exclusively to police units that have demonstrated service, dedication, and tangible benefits for the nation and state. “So when the Riau Police Pataka was awarded this honour, it truly means many stories, many tales of the dedication of Bhayangkara members, have been recorded in the nation’s history,” he said. With emotion, Inspector General Herry Heryawan expressed his gratitude to all personnel and the people of Riau Province. He stressed that the Nugraha Sakanti does not belong to the police chief, but to all personnel within the Riau Police and to the community that has continuously supported security and order in Bumi Lancang Kuning. “Therefore, with a sincere and grateful heart, on behalf of the entire Riau Police family, I extend my sincerest thanks. This honour is not mine, nor does it belong to a select few. This honour belongs to every member, from the regional police to the resort police to the sector police, from the lowest rank to the highest rank. It belongs to all civil servants and to the cleaning staff who clean the headquarters. It also belongs to all Bhayangkari wives who faithfully support from behind, faithfully supporting their husbands’ duties. It belongs to the citizens who sacrifice their time together so that this Malay land we guard remains safe,” he said.
