Riau Police Chief Gives Tree Seedlings as Gifts During Promotion of 1,126 Personnel

Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan held a promotion ceremony for 1,126 personnel on the occasion of the 80th Bhayangkara Day. The Chief hopes these promotions will foster a spirit of service that is more professional and beloved by the community. A total of 1,126 personnel from the Riau Regional Police received promotions to the next rank, consisting of 1,115 regular promotions, 11 functional promotions, and 26 civil servants. In addition to symbolically removing old rank insignia and pinning on new ones, the Riau Police Chief also presented tree seedlings to representatives of the promoted personnel as a symbol of growth, new responsibility, and the implementation of the Green Policing spirit. ‘This promotion is not merely a symbol, a change in status, or identity. It is a form of validation and recognition from the Police institution for the dedication, professionalism, and integrity you have demonstrated in carrying out your duties,’ said Inspector General Herry Heryawan on Friday (3/7/2026). In his address, the Chief reminded personnel not to forget the significant role their families play in their career success, citing the prayers of wives, husbands, children, and parents that accompany every step of their duty. However, amidst the joyful atmosphere, the Riau Police Chief also issued a very stern warning regarding the commitment to eradicating drugs within the police force. ‘I emphasise once again, I will not hesitate to dismiss or fire any member proven to be involved with drugs, whether as a user or a dealer. This has been my commitment since I first served here,’ he stressed. He urged all personnel to look out for one another and to immediately warn colleagues or family members if they show signs of drug abuse. Following the main ceremony, the event continued with the tradition of a water spray using a Water Cannon vehicle. This tradition symbolises self-purification, so that personnel can embrace their new rank with a clean and fresh spirit, ready to achieve new accomplishments.
