Riau Police Chief Awards Foundations Supporting the 'Merah Putih Presisi' Bridge Programme
Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan has presented awards to two foundations that contributed to the construction of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge in several areas of Riau Province. The foundations’ contributions have provided tremendous benefits in supporting the opening of access for communities in remote areas.
The awards were presented directly by Inspector General Herry Heryawan to Yayasan Putra Peduli together with Relawan 1011 and Yayasan Harmoni Nusa. According to him, the involvement of community elements is an important part of the spirit built through the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge programme.
“This award is a form of respect for the care and spirit of mutual cooperation. When the government, the National Police and all elements of society move together, even the most difficult problems can be solved,” said Inspector General Herry Heryawan on Monday (10/8/2026).
He stressed that the construction of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge has been built from the outset through a spirit of collaboration. The National Police does not work alone, but moves together with regional governments, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the business community, communities, volunteers and the public.
“This bridge is not merely a physical construction. Behind every bridge built, there is access that opens up, a local economy that moves, children who find it easier to attend school and public services that become closer,” he added.
The police chief hopes that the involvement of the two foundations can inspire more parties to contribute to resolving issues that directly affect community needs. He emphasised that collaboration is a strength for accelerating the arrival of solutions, especially for communities in areas that have long faced limited access.
“Our measure of success is not only how many bridges have been built. The most important thing is how much benefit is felt by the community,” he asserted.
The Merah Putih Presisi Bridge programme is one of the Riau Regional Police’s initiatives to open community access through the construction and repair of bridges in various areas. The Riau Regional Police has carried out 810 Merah Putih bridge constructions in two phases.
The programme targets bridges that serve as important access for communities to schools, health facilities, economic centres and daily activities, especially in remote villages that have received little attention.
Through the programme, the Riau Regional Police aims to ensure that the presence of the National Police is felt not only in maintaining security and enforcing the law, but also through efforts that provide direct benefits to people’s lives.
“Ultimately, what we want to deliver is access, a sense of security and opportunities for communities to grow and achieve a better life,” concluded the police chief.
