Riau Police Chief and Military Commander Monitor Takbiran Night to Ensure Security
Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan, Commander of the XIX/Tuanku Tambusai Military Region Major General Agus Hadi Waluyo, and Acting Governor of Riau SF Haryanto conducted an inspection at the Security Post for Operation Ketupat Lancang Kuning 2026. This step was taken to ensure that the takbiran night, marking the welcome to Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, proceeds safely and smoothly.
The activity took place at the Pekanbaru Security Post in Riau on Friday night (20/3/2026). On this occasion, the Riau Police Chief also attended a video conference with National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
The Riau Police Chief directly checked the areas to ensure security readiness, smooth Eid homecoming traffic, and that the situation remains safe and conducive ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
Inspector General Herry Heryawan stated that this inspection activity on takbiran night is a tangible manifestation of the Indonesian National Police’s presence among the community to provide a sense of security.
“The momentum of takbiran night is a shared concern, so that the community can celebrate it safely, comfortably, and with full reverence,” said Inspector General Herry.
The inspection also simultaneously strengthens the synergy between TNI-Polri, the government, and all stakeholders as the key to maintaining stability in public security and order across the region.
“The situation up to tonight is safe and conducive,” he added.
Tree Sapling Distribution
Meanwhile, in welcoming Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, which falls on Saturday, 21 March 2026, the Riau Police Chief emphasised that his side will not hold an open house. Instead, Riau Police will celebrate Eid by distributing tree saplings to the community.
This step follows the circular from the Minister Secretary of State and the National Police Chief’s telegram regarding the implementation of halal bihalal and open house for Eid.
Riau Police will carry out Eid silaturahmi in a simple manner. Without lavish parties, the activity will involve distributing tree saplings that will become an ecological charity for police members under Riau Police.
“In following up on the circular from the Minister Secretary of State and the telegram from the National Police Chief, Riau Police wants to do something different in this Eid al-Fitr celebration moment. We are not holding halal bihalal or open house as a form of empathy towards fellow countrymen who may not be able to celebrate Victory Day in decent conditions because they have just been hit by natural disasters,” said Inspector General Herry on Friday (20/3).
The Police Chief hopes that his ranks will utilise the Eid silaturahmi momentum, which coincides with World Forestry Day, by giving justice to nature in accordance with the spirit of Green Policing.
