Riau Police Build 110 Bridges, DPR: Proof Police Do More Than Just Maintain Security
The success of the Riau Regional Police in building a total of 110 ‘Merah Putih Presisi’ bridges across various rural areas has received appreciation from Muhammad Rahul, the Head of the Commission III working group at the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the Gerindra Party faction. Rahul assessed that the infrastructure development carried out by the Riau Police is proof that the institution not only performs law enforcement and security functions but also directly contributes to improving public welfare.
‘I, as the Head of the DPR’s Commission III working group from the Gerindra faction, and also representing the people of Riau, wish a happy 80th Bhayangkara Day and express tremendous appreciation to the Riau Police Chief and all personnel involved. The construction of these 110 bridges is the most beautiful gift for the people of Riau. This proves that the Police not only maintain security and public order but also act as a driving force for development and the welfare of rural communities,’ Rahul said in a statement on Monday.
The legislator for the Riau electoral district stated that the bridge construction brings tangible benefits to the community, especially in areas that previously suffered from limited access. According to him, replacing damaged wooden bridges with iron structures makes residents’ mobility safer while facilitating economic activities and access to public services.
‘These bridges are not just physical infrastructure; they are lifelines that connect the hopes of schoolchildren, ease access to healthcare, and accelerate the economic mobility of farmers and traders in remote areas of Riau. The connectivity built by the Riau Police directly breaks the isolation of remote areas,’ Rahul emphasised.
He also welcomed the plan for the direct inauguration of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge by the National Police Chief. He considers the collaboration between the Riau Police, local government, and the community to be an exemplary synergy. Rahul assessed that this approach aligns with the Police’s ‘Presisi’ concept, which stands for Predictive, Responsiveness, and Transparency with Justice.
‘Commission III of the DPR, as the working partner of the Police, will continue to support police programmes oriented towards public service and humanity like this. What the Riau Police have done under the jargon ’Protecting Tuah Marwah’ is a reflection of a police force that is loved and embedded in the hearts of the people.
