Pekanbaru, (ANTARA) - The price of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) of oil palm for independent smallholder farmers in Riau Province has fallen again by IDR 144.82 per kilogram, or 3.98 per cent, from the previous period to IDR 3,497.26 per kg.

The Head of the Processing and Marketing Division of the Riau Plantation Office, Defris Hatmaja, said that the decline occurred in the 9-year age group, which represents the highest price. This determination will be valid for the next week, from 25 February to 3 March 2026.

“The price decline in this period is mainly due to the fall in the prices of crude palm oil (CPO) and kernel,” he said in Pekanbaru on Wednesday.

He explained that during this price determination period, the selling price of CPO fell by IDR 771.77 per kg to IDR 14,142.50 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of kernel fell by IDR 74.00 per kg to IDR 13,575.00 per kg.

Meanwhile, the price of shells has also been adjusted to IDR 22.60 per kg, which will be valid for the next month.

Similarly, for independent smallholder farmers, the purchase price of FFB for plasma partner farmers for the next week also fell to IDR 3,558.34/kg. This is also due to the fall in CPO prices, but the price of kernel has increased.

The selling price of CPO this week fell by IDR 670.01 to IDR 14,142.50 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of kernel increased by IDR 228.46 to IDR 13,575.00 per kg.

He said that in determining the FFB price in Riau Province, they always strive to improve governance so that this price determination is in accordance with regulations and is fair to both parties involved in the partnership.

“The improvement in the governance of this price determination is a serious effort by all stakeholders, supported by the Riau Provincial Government and the Riau High Prosecutor’s Office. This joint commitment will ultimately have an impact on increasing farmers’ income, which will lead to the welfare of the community,” he said.
