Riau nabs errant motorists

PEKANBARU, Riau: The local Road Traffic Agency (DLLAJ) caught
359 public transport drivers last week for various traffic
violations, Antara reported.

Yurnalis Saiby, chief of the agency, said 175 drivers were
stopped because their vehicles were not properly licensed.

The second most frequent violation was the absence of an
operating permit, accounting for 110 vehicles.

He estimated the city administration lost Rp 400 million every
year because of buses and other forms of public transportation
failing to re-register and pay operating fees. (06)
