Kurma 2026 is not just a Ramadan Bazaar but part of a strategy to strengthen the sharia economy and empower local MSMEs.

The Riau Islands Provincial Government is holding the Kepulauan Riau Ramadhan Fair (Kurma) 2026 to enliven the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah while boosting MSMEs and the regional creative economy.

Acting Provincial Secretary Luki Zaiman Prawira said Kurma 2026 begins with a Ramadan Bazaar running from February 20 to March 14, 2026, while the main events will be held from March 2–8, 2026, at the Gurindam 12 Area in Tanjungpinang City, starting at 4:00 PM WIB.

“Kurma 2026 is not just a Ramadan Bazaar but part of a strategy to strengthen the sharia economy and empower local MSMEs,” Luki said when contacted in Tanjungpinang on Sunday.

Luki said Kurma should serve as a space where the people’s economy, public services, and the spirit of Ramadan converge in one area. Through this event, his office wants Ramadan 1447 H to have a direct impact on MSME operators, strengthen the creative economy, and make it easier for the public to access various government services.

He noted that the presence of hundreds of MSME booths at the event demonstrates the provincial government’s commitment to building a sustainable business ecosystem.

“MSMEs are the backbone of the Riau Islands economy. Through KURMA, we want to boost local economic circulation and ensure the public directly feels the benefits,” he said.

Luki added that Kurma 2026 is designed as an integrated event involving various regional agencies, central government offices, banks, and communities. The annual event features a range of public services accessible directly to the public, including intellectual property services from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, BPJS Health enrollment services, free health screenings by the Health Office in collaboration with Kimia Farma, and services from the Food and Drug Authority (BPOM).

Additionally, vehicle tax services are available through Samsat/Bapenda, immigration services, hajj information and consultation from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, zakat services through Baznas, Pegadaian services, and halal certification facilitation for business operators.

In the financial sector, the event features a banking and sharia economy theme coordinated with Bank Indonesia and the Riau Islands OJK, involving several national and regional banks such as Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, BTN, BSI, BRK, and BCA.

“The public can receive financial education while taking advantage of various banking services directly at the event location,” he explained.

Furthermore, Kurma 2026 provides an affordable staple goods market to help the community, managed by the Trade and Industry Office and the Food Security Office. There is also a tourism and cultural promotion area featuring maritime, nature and adventure themes, as well as traditional games and Malay cultural arts performances. The event is also enlivened by various religious-themed competitions including adhan, preaching, salawat, kompang drumming, and Muslim fashion contests.

“Kurma 2026 is a moment to strengthen the regional economy while fostering community togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan,” Luki said.
