Riau Governor Abdul Wahid to Face Trial Following Case File Transfer to Corruption Court
The Public Prosecutors of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have transferred the case file on allegations of corruption against inactive Riau Governor Abdul Wahid and associates to the Corruption Court at Pekanbaru District Court.
Abdul Wahid, Head of the Riau Provincial Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, Settlement Areas and Land (PUPR PKPP) M Arief Setiawan, and Dani M Nursalam, serving as Abdul Wahid’s expert adviser, will now face trial on charges of alleged extortion and/or receipt of gratuities.
“Today the KPK Public Prosecutors have transferred the case to the Corruption Court at Pekanbaru District Court,” stated KPK Spokesman Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Tuesday (10 March).
Budi stated that the KPK prosecutors are currently awaiting the setting of the trial date.
“The KPK invites the public to continue following developments in this case and to carefully observe every fact that emerges during the trial,” he said.
During the investigation process, Abdul Wahid and associates were charged with violating Articles 12e and/or 12f and/or 12B of the Anti-Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Indonesian Criminal Code.
Between 10-12 November 2025, the KPK conducted searches of the Riau Governor’s Office, the PUPR PKPP Department Office, the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) office, and several private residences. The Education Department office was also searched on 13 November 2025.
From all these locations, investigators seized a number of documents and electronic evidence related to budget reallocations by the Riau Provincial Government.
Additionally, on Monday (15 December), the KPK searched the official residence of Acting Riau Governor SF Hariyanto, seizing several documents.
The KPK also searched the official residence of Indragiri Hulu Regent Ade Agus Hartanto in mid-December of the previous year, seizing several documents and sums of money in Indonesian rupiah and Singapore dollars.
