The Riau Provincial Department of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has opened a complaint channel for the public to report suspected violations in the mining sector, particularly unauthorised mining activities.

The Head of the Riau ESDM Department, Ismon Diondo Simatupang, stated that the public can report suspected violations through the channels provided by the government. One of the primary focuses is the suspected violation of non-metallic mineral and rock (MBLB) mining within the Riau Province.

“Every report submitted will serve as material for verification and follow-up in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations,” Ismon said in Pekanbaru on Monday.

In their reports, members of the public are requested to specify the regency/city as well as the village or district where the suspected violation is occurring. Reporters can also supplement their reports with location coordinates and Google Maps links, if available.

In addition to the location, information regarding field activities can also be provided, such as the names of the suspected perpetrators or companies if known, the duration of the activity, the type of commodity being mined, and the estimated number of heavy machinery units being used.

The public is also encouraged to attach supporting evidence in the form of photos or videos equipped with GPS coordinate data. This evidence will subsequently serve as part of the verification process for incoming reports.

“Complaints can also be submitted through the 1mu Contact Center 136, the LAPOR! website, or via email to the Directorate General of Law Enforcement of the Ministry of ESDM,” he explained.

Meanwhile, complaints that meet the criteria will be forwarded to the Directorate General of Law Enforcement of the Ministry of ESDM and the Riau Provincial Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) for further handling according to their respective authorities.
