Riau Bhayangkara Run Successfully Held, Becomes a Magnet for Sport Tourism

The Riau Bhayangkara Run (RBR) 2026 has officially concluded with a proud record. The running event, organised by the Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau), was successfully attended by 15,080 participants from various regions in Indonesia and abroad. As one of the largest running events in Sumatra, Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 further solidifies Riau Province’s position as a sport tourism destination. The presence of thousands of runners also made RBR 2026 an event that boosted the economy for MSMEs, as well as the hospitality, transportation, culinary, and tourism sectors.

The Chairman of the Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 Committee, Commissioner Daniel Widya Mucharam, stated that the high level of public enthusiasm is proof that the Riau Bhayangkara Run is increasingly gaining a place as one of Indonesia’s prestigious running agendas. ‘Alhamdulillah, the entire series of activities ran safely, orderly, and smoothly. This is a source of pride for us because it shows that Riau is increasingly trusted to host national and even international-scale sporting events,’ said Commissioner Daniel on Monday (20/7/2026). According to the Chief of the Riau Police’s Planning Bureau, this success was the result of cooperation from all parties who had worked from the planning and preparation stages to the execution in the field. Commissioner Daniel expressed his appreciation for the collaboration that ensured the event, part of the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration, ran safely, orderly, and smoothly. ‘We would like to thank all parties involved. This success is the result of joint work,’ he added.

Commissioner Daniel added that the high participation from various regions in Indonesia, as well as runners from France, Kenya, Malaysia, and Singapore, indicates that the Riau Bhayangkara Run has significant potential to continue growing as a premier sport tourism agenda in Riau Province. Meanwhile, Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan emphasised that the Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 was not just a running competition, but a manifestation of collaboration bringing together the government, security forces, businesses, communities, media, and the public in a shared spirit to develop Riau Province. ‘What is far more important is that this activity can bring together thousands of people in a spirit of togetherness, introduce Riau Province to a wider audience, and open opportunities for community economic growth through the tourism, hospitality, transportation, culinary, and MSME sectors,’ said Inspector General Herry.

The Police Chief stated that the implementation of the Riau Bhayangkara Run is proof that sport can be an instrument of development that provides broader benefits to the community. Therefore, it is hoped that this activity will continue to grow into an annual agenda that not only brings pride from a sporting perspective but also makes a real contribution to regional promotion, strengthening the local economy, and developing sport tourism in Riau Province. According to the Police Chief, this success would not have been possible without the collaboration of all elements of society. He expressed his appreciation to all participants who came from various regions in Indonesia and abroad, the Riau Provincial Government, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), district and city governments, sponsors, running communities, volunteers, health workers, mass media, MSME players, cleaning staff, and the entire community who were part of the successful implementation of the Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026. The Police Chief also gave appreciation to all personnel of the Riau Regional Police and the ranks of the Resort Police who had worked from the planning, preparation, security, traffic management, health services, to the cleaning of the activity area.

The Police Chief added that the Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 also served as a means to educate the public through the implementation of Green Policing, a flagship programme of the Riau Regional Police that positions environmental preservation as part of efforts to maintain security and sustainability. This commitment was realised by distributing baby elephant dolls named Nona Seroja as a symbol of concern for wildlife conservation, as well as Trembesi tree seedlings to participants as part of a greening movement and forest and land fire prevention. The Police Chief hopes that the spirit born from the Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 will continue to live and inspire various parties to develop the region through collaboration, sports, social care, and environmental preservation. ‘The Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 has indeed finished, but the spirit built through this activity must not stop at the finish line. The spirit of healthy living, the spirit of collaboration, the spirit of driving the community’s economy, and the spirit of protecting the environment must continue to be nurtured. Because when we protect nature, nature will also protect us,’ concluded Herry Heryawan.
