RI women's doubles to Circuit's final

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian women's pair of Irawati Moerid
Iskandar and Wukirasih Sawondari outclassed the Japanese duo of
Sachie Umehara and Etsuko Yamada 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday to go the
final of the US$10,000 Extra Joss Women's Circuit 3 tennis
championships.

Veteran Irawati and junior Wukirasih will meet the South
Korean pair of Chae Kyung-yee and Jeon Mi-ra, who beat the
Japanese double's team of Akiko Gunji and Keiko Taguchi 6-1, 6-3
at the Kemayoran tennis center, Central Jakarta.

Irawati, however, was not so lucky in the singles event. She
was outclassed by qualifier Choi Jin-young of South Korea 0-6, 4-
6 in Saturday's semis.

Choi will meet teammate Chae, who cruised to Sunday's final
with less effort after her rival, Wang I-ting of China Taipei,
retired when Chae was leading 4-0. (ivy)
