RI woman jailed in HK
HONG KONG: An Indonesian woman has received a record jail term
of 19 and a half years for attempting to smuggle US$2.7 million
worth of ecstasy pills into Hong Kong, a report said on Saturday.
The penalty was the highest term ever passed for an offender
importing the drug into the territory, the South China Morning
Post reported.
Suen Yung-yung, 39, was given the lengthy jail sentence for
trying to import 9.75 kilograms of the drug -- or more than
60,000 pills -- hidden in two water heaters flown in from
Jakarta, it said.
Her 42-year-old accomplice, Kusnadi Ridwan, received a
sentence of 13 years and four months after pleading guilty to
conspiring to smuggle the ecstasy between June 1 and Sept. 11
