RI woman commits suicide-murder
MALAYSIA: An Indonesian woman stabbed her two-year-old
daughter before killing herself, apparently because she was
distraught that her Indian husband had not returned to Malaysia
from his trip back home, reports said on Tuesday.
Reni Wahabi, 32, who had just given birth to a baby girl, had
allegedly originally fed her toddler child insecticide before
consuming the poison herself at a friend's home in the southern
Seremban state.
However, she was believed to have stabbed her child to death
after seeing the young girl suffering in pain from the effects of
the poison, said Seremban acting police chief Mohamad Taib Latif.
"After the front door was broken down, we saw Reni and her
two-year old child unconscious with foam coming out of their
mouths, and their bodies were all bloated," an eye-witness told
the Malay-language Berita Harian daily.
Neighbors found the four-day-old infant nearby, unharmed.
Reni's husband, an Indian national, was believed to have
promised to return to Malaysia after he left for India in March
following the expiry of his working permit. -- DPA
