RI wins 6 golds in AMA Int'l

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia managed to bring home six golds, two silvers and two bronzes in the AMA International Open Championships in Nottingham, England, on Feb. 17 and Feb. 18.

National karateka Umar Syarif attained gold in the men's +80kgs kumite.

Umar, teaming up with Arief Taufan and Isfan Tanjung, gained silver in the men's kumite and Isfan also added another silver in the men's -60kgs kumite.

Lemkari karate school executive director, Hamami Nata, said after arrival at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Saturday that national karatekas managed to face their tough rivals in the event, competed by 18 countries, Antara reported. (yan)
