RI wins 21 golds in women's Games

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia won 23 golds and 17 silvers in the Islamic countries women's solidarity sports championships in Teheran which ended yesterday.

Indonesia's last medals were won by the country's badminton and table tennis athletes, who contributed five golds. Indonesia won 13 golds from swimming, two from shooting and three from track and field.

Antara reported that about 1,000 female athletes from 24 countries competed in the championships, which was staged from Dec. 12 to Dec. 19. The president of the Islamic countries women's sports solidarity, Jaezeh Hashemi, closed the championships at the Azadi stadium. (yan)
