RI visitors to HK surge
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesians topped the list of the visitor arrival growth to Hong Kong last year, according to the Hong Kong Tourist Association.
The association said in a press statement on Friday that the growth rate of arrivals from Indonesia in 1999 was a massive 79.3 percent to 188,089, followed by South Korea with 44.6 percent.
It said that Indonesia's previous low base in the corresponding months in 1998 was one the contributing factors of the high growth.
Hong Kong received a total of 10.68 million visitors in 1999, representing an 11.5 percent growth on the 1998 total. (hen)
