RI 'VIP' gang suspects caught

MALAYSIA: Police have arrested three Indonesians suspected of
being members of the so-called "VIP Gang" after they allegedly
robbed the Bangladesh ambassador and his family at knifepoint, a
report said on Saturday.

The gang gained notoriety after repeatedly robbing the homes
of politicians, diplomats and businessmen in Kuala Lumpur. In 11
robberies since 2001, the group has escaped with cash and
valuables totaling more than five million ringgit (US$1.3
million).

The three suspects stole 300,000 ringgit ($79,000) in cash and
valuables on Tuesday from the home of Bangladesh High
Commissioner Masood Aziz and his family, the New Straits Times
reported. No one was hurt in the robbery.

Police arrested the three Indonesian men and were checking if
other gang members were at large.
