RI, U.S. militaries maintain cooperation
JAKARTA: Despite the prolonged arms embargo imposed by the United States on Indonesia, the militaries of the two countries are attempting to maintain their cooperation.
A group of 30 information officers from the Indonesian Army, Navy and Air Force and six counterparts from the U.S. Pacific Command concluded a three-day discussion on Thursday on how to present information and news to the press.
During the event, the officers shared experiences in dealing with the media, including how to present intelligence information without jeopardizing the operation.
Public affairs chief of the U.S. Army Pacific Command Lt. Col. John Williams hailed the Indonesian Military program to embed journalists during the operation to crush rebels in Aceh. "We did the same in Iraq," he said. -- JP.
