RI tourists to HK increases
JAKARTA (JP): The number of Indonesians visiting Hong Kong rose by 28.1 percent in February this year compared to the same period last year, the Hong Kong Tourist Association (HKTA) said in a press release.
The release said most of the tourists were Chinese-Indonesians visiting the territory for Chinese New Year activities.
HKTA said visitors to Hong Kong during the month surged 17.2 percent to a total of 782,640 compared to the same period last year.
Total cumulative arrivals in Hong Kong for January and February reached 1.6 million, an increase of 13.9 percent over the same period last year, it added.
It said the markets showing the strongest growth in tourist arrivals to Hong Kong in February included mainland China, which saw its tourist arrivals to Hong Kong rise by 65.2 percent, due mainly to favorable outbound policies, a shorter processing time for visas and New Year celebrations. (rei)
