RI to send squash players to KL

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Squash Association (PSI) plans to have a tryout in Malaysia in the second week of June as preparation for the Kuala Lumpur Southeast Asian (SEA) Games from Sept. 8 to Sept. 17.

"We want to learn from Malaysian players because they are the strongest in the region," coach Bambang Gatot Subroto said as quoted by Antara on Tuesday.

Squash will feature mens' and womens' teams and men's and women's individual events.

Bambang said the players would compete in local tournaments in Malaysia and would stay there until the Games start.

Eight male and five female athletes have been groomed in the training center. Only four male and four female athletes will join the core squad for the biennial event. (yan)
